Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs News Release
ROANOKE, VA - The Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs are preparing to donate 1,235 teddy bears and stuffed animals to local children's hospitals after Saturday night's Teddy Bear Toss game sponsored by All-State Gillespie Agencies in Vinton and Rocky Mount and Q99 radio. The bears were thrown onto the ice by fans after Mike Driscoll's first period goal gave the Dawgs a 1-0 lead.
Thanks to fans generous donations, on December 28 the Rail Yard Dawgs players will deliver the stuffed animals and teddy bears to children in Carilion Children's Hospital and Shriner's Hospital for Children. Additional stuffed animals will be donated to other children's organizations.
The Rail Yard Dawgs won their first annual Teddy Bear Toss game, 4-2, over the Fayetteville FireAntz.
Roanoke will play its next two contests on the road before returning to home ice on December 30 and 31. There is a special Honey Tree Early Learning Center's Family Four Pack available for the New Year's Eve game against the Knoxville Ice Bears, featuring four tickets, two hats, two popcorns and two sodas starting at just $22 and available for purchase at http://bit.ly/FourPackNYE.
