
Mike Moran Named SPHL Player of the Week

HUNTERSVILLE, NC - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced Mike Moran of the Mississippi RiverKings is the Bauer Player of the Week for December 12-18.
Moran scored three goals, including one game-winner, and added three assists in leading Mississippi to a 2-0-1 record last week and helping the RiverKings move into a tie for second place in the SPHL standings.
On Tuesday, the Marshfield, MA native scored a power play goal in Mississippi's
6-5 overtime loss to Evansville. On Friday, Moran scored one goal and assisted
on two others in a 6-4 win over Knoxville before coming back the next night with a
one-goal, one-assist performance in leading the RiverKings to a 4-3 win and weekend road sweep of the Ice Bears. Moran's unassisted game-winner midway through the third period extended his goal-scoring streak to five games, longest in the SPHL this season.
Moran spent the previous four years at Boston University where he scored 15 goals and added 10 as- sists. In addition, Moran took just 15 minor penalties in 142 career games with the Terriers. Currently in his first professional season, Moran is tied for first among all SPHL players in goals (12), game-winning goals (4) and power play goals (4) and is tied for third in points with 21.
