Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs News Release
The Rail Yard Dawgs announced on Thursday that forward Nick Ford has signed a contract with Roanoke, and will join the team immediately. He participated in training camp for the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads before he was released by Idaho on Monday.
Ford suited up at Elmira College before playing four combined games with the ECHL's Florida Everblades and the SPHL's Pensacola Ice Flyers over the past two seasons. In Ford's 106 collegiate games, the six-foot-one forward scored an eye-popping 63 goals and tacked on 81 assists. Ford played in just one game for Pensacola in the 2020-2021 season before sitting out the remainder of the COVID-affected season.
"Nick had a fantastic college career with Elmira College (NCAA-DIII), putting up big numbers," said Coach Bremner when asked about Ford. "He's a big body that can play a hard, heavy game and is also very gifted at putting the puck in the net. I'm excited to see how his game translates to professional hockey."
Roanoke is back in action on Friday, October 22, against the Fayetteville Marksmen. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Season tickets, packages, group tickets, and single game ticketsÃÂ are on sale now!
