LAST TIME OUT: Brandon Anderson exited the game with an injury late in the first period and emergency backup goaltender Mike Peters made 24 saves on 26 shots in relief and the Rail Yard Dawgs beat the Evansville Thunderbolts, 4-2, Friday night at the Berglund Center. Massimo Lamacchia scored twice and ten Dawgs picked up points in the win.

BETWEEN THE PIPES: Ryan de Melo is expected to make the start in net for Roanoke. de Melo last appeared on Thursday against Knoxville and allowed five goals on 42 shots, including four in the third period. He was unable to play on Friday due to injury, leading to the signing of Mike Peters as an emergency backup to Brandon Anderson. de Melo is 1-1-1 with a 3.63 GAA and a .917 SV% over his three starts this season

SECOND IS THE BEST: The Dawgs scored twice in the second period during Friday's win over Evansville and have now notched 15 of their 26 goals this season during the second period. Roanoke is out-scoring its opponents, 15-8, during the middle stanza while Evansville has been out-scored, 22-5, in the second.

HE'S GOING STREAKING: Jackson Brewer picked up his second goal of the season on Friday, extending his point streak to seven games. Brewer has earned a point in every game since the season opener when the Dawgs were shut out by Knoxville, 2-0. He has two goals and eight assists for a total of ten points, tied for third most in the league. Brewer's eight assists are the second most in the circuit.

INSTANT CHEMISTRY: Roanoke's line of Jackson Brewer, Steve Mele and Tyler Gjurich has clicked in the early part of the season with a combined 29 points over the first eight games. All three men are in the top ten in the league in scoring with Brewer and Gjurich tied for third with ten points and Mele tied for seventh with nine.

JUST THE TWO OF US: Roanoke and Evansville are the only teams in action on Thursday. The rest of the SPHL begins their weekend on Friday.

THIRD PERIOD BLUES: The Rail Yard Dawgs were out-shot, 16-3, during the third period on Friday and have now been out-shot, 50-8, during the third periods of their previous three games.

SLOW OFF THE GROUND: The Thunderbolts are the only team in the SPHL not to win a game in 2016-17, having gone 0-8-3 thus far. 11 games is the third longest winless streak in league history and the longest ever to open a season. The 2010-11 Louisiana IceGators own the longest winless streak at 20.

MASSIMO ROLLING: Massimo Lamacchia recorded back to back multi-point games last week against Knoxville and Evansville, notching a goal and an assist on Thursday before scoring twice on Friday. Lamacchia now has six points over eight games

UP NEXT: The Dawgs will take Friday off before returning to the Berglund Center ice on Saturday at 7:05 PM to once again see the Thunderbolts.
