LAST TIME OUT: Jeff Jones scored in the third to bring the Rail Yard Dawgs within one but it wasn't enough as Roanoke was defeated by the Knoxville Ice Bears, 3-2, Sunday afternoon at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum. Colin Murray also scored for the Dawgs in the loss.

FLASHBACK TO THE POSTSEASON: Friday is the first time the Rail Yard Dawgs have seen the Rivermen since Peoria eliminated them in the Challenge Round of the President's Cup Playoffs last April. The top-seeded Rivermen beat the Dawgs, 2-0, in the best-of-three series. Neither game was played in the home team's usual arena- the Dawgs lost their home game, 3-2, Lynchburg at Liberty University's Lahaye Ice Center, and Peoria won, 4-1, at their backup practice rink, Owens Center.

ON THE ROSTER: The Rail Yard Dawgs lost goaltender Brad Barone on Thursday as he was called up by the ECHL's Rapid City Rush. Barone heads to South Dakota for his third ECHL stint this season. With the Dawgs he is 6-2-2 with a 2.68 GAA and .907 SV%. Barone was replaced on the Roanoke roster by Henry Dill, who had been in the FHL with the Carolina Thunderbirds. For Carolina, Dill was 9-2-1 with a 1.91 GAA and .924 SV% and has also played four games in the SPHL with the Macon Mayhem. Additionally, the Dawgs added forward Mike Crowley on a three-game tryout contract on Wednesday. Crowley is set to make his professional debut after finishing his college career at Cortland State earlier this month.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN: Friday is the second of 11 consecutive games the Rail Yard Dawgs will play away from home ice. It is also the first of four games in five nights for the Dawgs. Roanoke is 7-7-2 on the road this season and 13-10-1 at home. Of its 16 remaining regular season games, 12 will come on the road and four will be played at home.

TOUGH PLACE TO PLAY: Peoria has been outstanding on home ice; the Rivermen are 15-0-2 and the only team in professional hockey not to lose in regulation at home this season. All three of the Dawgs' games against Peoria will come on the road as the Rivermen do not visit Berglund Center.

SAME FACES, DIFFERENT JERSEYS: The Rail Yard Dawgs roster is littered with players who formerly skated for Peoria. Forwards Jordan Carvalho, Jeff Jones, Cody Dion, injured forward Eric Witzel and called-up winger Michael Economos are all former Rivermen. Dawgs head coach Dan Bremner also played his final three seasons for Peoria and was the captain for his last two.

PEORIA'S LEAGUE LEADERS: Rivermen rookie Ben Blasko leads the SPHL in points (50), assists (35) and +/- (+30). Peoria has three of the top four +/- leaders in the league. Rivermen goaltender Steven Klein leads SPHL goalies in GAA (1.79) and SV% (.930) and Storm Phaneuf is second in GAA (1.91).

UP NEXT: The Rail Yard Dawgs and Rivermen meet again on Saturday night in Peoria. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:15 PM CST at Carver Arena.
