Raiders Make Selection in CHL Import Draft

Prince Albert, SK-Prince Albert Raiders have selected Simon Stransky 24th overall in today's Canadian Hockey League Import Draft.

Stransky, a native of Ostrava, Czech Republic is a 5'11, 167-pound left winger. The 1997 born player is one of the youngest players available in the draft. He is regarded as a smooth skater with fluid strides, good balance and soft hands who reads the play well.

Simon has spent time with the Czech U16, U17, U18, and U20 teams. During the 2013-14 season with the HC Vitkovice U18 team, Stransky totalled 51 points from 20 goals and 31 assists.

"We're excited to add Simon to our roster, he will be a great fit with our group of "˜97 born players. He's a very skilled player with excellent hockey sense," remarked Raiders General Manger Bruno Campese, "We would like to welcome Simon and his family to the Prince Albert Raider Hockey Club."

Simon is the younger brother of WHL alumnus, former Saskatoon Blade Matej Stransky who was drafted and signed by the NHL Dallas Stars.
