Regina, SK - The Prince Albert Raiders (0-2-0-0) lost a 5-2 game to the Regina Pats (2-0-0-0) on Saturday afternoon at the Brandt Centre.

Ozzy Wiesblatt and Reece Vitelli were the goal scorers for the Raiders in the loss.

The Pats got the scoring started with a power-play goal 5:42 into the contest. Drew Englot put a shot on goal that was stopped by Carter Serhyenko, but the rebound fell to Sloan Stanick. The Pats forward put a shot past a sprawling Serhyenko to make it 1-0.

Later in the frame, the Raiders tied it up on a power play of their own. Wiesblatt, who was making his season debut after being returned to the Raiders from San Jose's camp, stepped in from the top of the right faceoff circle and wired it over Matthew Kieper's right shoulder to even things up at 1-1 after 20 minutes.

In the second, the Pats took the lead again. Cole Carrier drove in on Serhyenko from the right and lifted a backhanded shot over the Raiders' netminder's left shoulder to put the Pats up 2-1.

Another returnee to the Raiders' lineup levelled the score for Prince Albert. Cale Sanders chipped the puck out of the zone to Vitelli, who made his debut after returning from Arizona's training camp. The Winnipeg, MB product kept on the two-on-one rush and snapped a shot past Kieper to tie things again at 2-2 with 6:54 to play in the second.

About a minute later, the Pats re-gained their lead. Carrier found Stanislav Svozil cutting through the slot. Svozil then made a backdoor pass to Stanick for the Pats forwards' second of the game to give Regina a 3-2 lead after two periods.

The Pats doubled their advantage with an early power-play goal in the third period. Drew Englot's shot from the point was deflected in front by Zack Stringer, getting it through Serhyenko to make it 4-2.

With 6:30 to play in the third, the Pats struck again when Connor Bedard skated through the zone and lifted a shot over Serhyenko to round out the scoring at 5-2.

Serhyenko, making his second straight start, stopped 29 shots for the Raiders; Kieper made 19 saves for the Pats.

The Raiders are off until Friday night when they open a two-game trip to Manitoba in Brandon against the Wheat Kings. Puck drop is 6 p.m. MT.

The next Raiders' home game is on Friday, October 15 when the Moose Jaw Warriors visit the Art Hauser Centre. Game time is 7 p.m. Tickets are available at SaskTix.ca.
