Prince Albert Raiders News Release
Prince Albert, SK - The Prince Albert Raiders (30-25-9-2) kept on rolling with a 4-2 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings (19-40-6-2) on Wednesday night at the Art Hauser Centre.
It was the Raiders' seventh-straight win, restoring their four-point lead over the idle Saskatoon Blades for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
The Oil Kings jumped out to an early lead when David Kope beat Ian Scott 1:15 into the contest. The Raiders tied the game midway through the period. Regan Nagy fought off an Oil Kings' defender and chopped a shot past Josh Dechaine to make it a 1-1 game.
Before the end of the first, Edmonton restored their lead. Colton Kehler snapped a shot from the slot past Scott to give the visitors a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes.
Early in the second, the Raiders took the lead with two goals in 14 seconds. Curtis Miske tied the game 1:22 into the frame when he redirected Zack Hayes' shot past Dechaine. Then, Max Martin's blast from the point found the back of the net to put the Raiders ahead 3-2.
In the third, the Raiders iced the game on Parker Kelly's 28th goal of the year with 6:39 to play. The Ottawa Senators prospect through a puck to the front of the net that went off of a defender's skate in front and past Dechaine to round out the scoring at 4-2.
Scott wasn't tested often. The Toronto Maple Leafs draft pick made 13 saves to earn his 21st win of the year. Dechaine stopped 30 shots in a losing effort.
The Raiders put their winning streak on the line on Friday night when the Moose Jaw Warriors visit the Art Hauser Centre. Puck drop is 7 p.m. Tickets are available at tickets.raiderhockey.com, the Raider Office, or by calling 306-764-5348.
