Raiders Acquire Thurston from Lethbridge

Prince Albert, Sask. - The Prince Albert Raiders acquired 2002-born defenceman Trevor Thurston and a sixth-round pick in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft from the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Friday.

In exchange, the Raiders sent 2003-born winger Tyson Laventure and 2004-born defenceman Ross Stanley to Lethbridge.

Thurston, a Delta, B.C. product, is listed at 6'2.5" and 198 lbs. In 24 games this season with the Hurricanes, Thurston has scored three goals and added four assists with 58 penalty minutes.

"We are excited to add Trevor to our mix," said Raiders General Manager Curtis Hunt. "He's a mobile, aggressive defender. He will bring grit, leadership, and stability to our back end."

Thurston was originally drafted by the Kamloops Blazers in the fourth round of the 2017 WHL Prospects Draft. He was acquired by the Hurricanes during the 2019-20 season. In his 82 career games in the WHL, the blueliner has 11 goals and 22 points with 162 penalty minutes.

Laventure, a Lloydminster, Alta. product, was drafted by the Raiders in the second round of the 2018 WHL Prospects Draft. This season, he has five goals and nine assists in 23 contests.

Stanley joined the Raiders via trade from the Edmonton Oil Kings in October. The blueliner has six penalty minutes in 19 games this season between the Raiders and the Oil Kings

The Raiders are back in action after the calendar flips to 2022 when they take on the Edmonton Oil Kings on Sunday evening at the Art Hauser Centre. Game time is 6 p.m. Tickets are available at the Raiders Office during working hours or any time at SaskTix.ca.
