Anchorage Wolverines News Release
Did someone say... ALASKAN HOCKEY?!
The Anchorage Wolverines will take on the Kenai River Brown Bears this Friday and Saturday for the last time of the season.
Friday's game will be played at The Ben, Saturday's will be in Soldotna.
The last time the two met, the Wolverines dominated to a 10-1 win at home, which followed a 5-3 win in Soldonta.
The Wolverines are coming off a huge weekend, with a three game sweep against the Chippewa Steel.
The Brown Bears had a weekend of their own, ending their 19-game losing streak with a 6-3 win over the Fairbanks Ice Dogs.
The Wolverines are still in the midst of their playoff push, being only one point away from tying for second place with the Janesville Jets in the Midwest Division.
Despite Anchorage's large lead in the Club 49 Cup Tracker, every win brings the team closer to securing the cup; come out to The Ben this Friday for a 7:00pm puck drop!
Midwest Star of the Week - Liam Beerman
Netminder for the Anchorage Wolverines, Liam Beerman, was awarded the Midwest's Star of the Week by the NAHL after helping the Wolverines defeat the Chippewa Steel in two of three games.
Beerman resided in net for the Wolverines throughout game one and game three this past weekend.
The goalie saw 67 shots and denied 64 for a save percentage of .955% throughout the two games.
Sunday, Beerman stopped 33 of 33 shots and walked the team to their third shutout of the season - all with Beerman between the pipes.
