Rafters Sweep Battle Creek in Offensive Explosion

Battle Creek, Mich.- The Rafters completed the sweep of the Battle Creek Bombers tonight at C.O. Brown Stadium by a score of 14-9. Wisconsin Rapids won their 28th game of the summer and are now four wins away from the franchise's single season record. Joey Graziano (St. John's) picked up the win for Wisconsin Rapids, while Nick Medeiros (Santa Clara) took the loss. The Rafters scored 23 runs in the two wins this weekend, and finished the season 5-2 against the Battle Creek Bombers.

Every player in the starting lineup tonight for the visitors touched home, as it was another team effort at the plate. Brock Carpenter (Seattle) had another outstanding day at the dish for Wisconsin Rapids, driving in 4 RBI's and hitting his ninth double of the Northwoods League season. With the Rafters leading 12-8 in the eighth, Ryan Cleveland (Georgia Southern) hit his seventh home run of the season to put the game away for good. Jake Sandlin (Southern Mississippi) hit his Northwoods League leading 21st double of the summer while scoring a run on the night. The offensive catalysts Zack Domingues (Long Beach State) and Ernie Clement (Virginia) scored a combined five runs in the win for Wisconsin Rapids. Justin Kelly (UC Santa Barbara) threw two fantastic innings out of the bullpen, striking out five and sealing the win for the Rafters. It was the Rafters second sweep in the last week after they swept the Green Bay Bullfrogs on July 27th-28th.
