
Rafters Shut out by Bombers

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. - The Wisconsin Rapids (30-36, 15-16 2nd half) were shut out by the Battle Creek Bombers (34-33, 19-13 2nd half) 9-0. The Rafters were no hit through eight innings before Jake Dunham (Northern Illinois) earned his 10th double of the year.
Battle Creek started the barrage in the first scoring four on three hits capped off by a Connor Bailey two-run homer. Three more runs scored in the second off five hits. Battle Creek scored once more in the fourth and sixth innings off base hits from Caleb Henderson and Michael Brown.
The Rafters broke up the no-no with a double from Jake Dunham but suffered their first shutout loss at home and fifth total of the year 9-0. Winston Allen (0-1, 6.00 ERA) suffered his first loss allowing eight runs, four earned in four innings off 10 hits. Derek Martin (1-0, 0.00 ERA) got the win for Battle Creek with five scoreless and seven strikeouts.
The Rafters will resume the series with Battle Creek on Wednesday at Witter Field with a 7:05 pm CT first pitch. Tomorrow, Wisconsin Rapids will send three players to the Major League Dreams Showcase at Warner Park in Madison, WI. Ty Duvall (Vanderbilt), Trayson Kubo (Stephen F. Austin) and Jack-Thomas Wold (UNLV) will be heading to Madison tomorrow. The South Division game in the showcase doubleheader will begin at 7:35 pm CT at Warner Park.
