Northwoods Wisconsin Rapids Rafters

Rafters Eye Fifth Straight Win

June 10, 2016 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Wisconsin Rapids Rafters News Release

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. - With a sweep of Thunder Bay behind them, the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (6-3) now travel back to Madison on a four-game winning streak in what will become eight games in twelve days against the Mallards (7-3).

On the heels of the Mallards in the division are the Rafters, who give right-handed pitcher Enrique Zamora (Calumet College of St. Joseph) the ball to start the game tonight. Tonight's start will be the first of Zamora's Rafters career, as he has only worked out of the bullpen for Wisconsin Rapids so far. Madison has yet to name a starter for tonight's game.

Pitching has been consistent in the Rafters' recent string of wins, but the offense has made tremendous contributions as well, scoring 44 runs over the last six games. A large reason for many of the recent offensive outbursts are due by way of Ben Fisher (Eastern Kentucky University).

In his last seven games, Fisher has mashed two home runs with seven runs batted in on ten hits. A .455 batting average over that span has also lifted his overall batting average to .333 on the season.

First pitch between the Rafters and Mallards tonight is scheduled for 7:05 PM at Warner Park.
