TONIGHT'S GAME: Is the fourth of a five game, four day series and the seventh of eight meetings, the fourth of five at The Diamond. The Braves are 3-1 vs. Ottawa, 3-0 at The Diamond. The Braves are 76-72 all-time vs. Ottawa. The 45th of 46 games vs. North Division club; the 23rd of 24 at home. The Braves are 25-19 vs. the North, 10-12 at home. Game 10 of an 11 game, 10 day homestand (Richmond is 6-3). The Braves are in first place in the South Division by two and a half games over Durham.
LAST NIGHT'S GAMES: The Braves swept a doubleheader from the Lynx Wednesday at The Diamond. The Braves won the opener 7-2 and took the nightcap 10-2. The Braves earned their fourth doubleheader sweep of the season and have now won four straight games. Richmond jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning of the opener. Martin Prado singled a run home, Brent Lillibridge drew a bases-loaded walk, and Corky Miller crushed a grand slam. The Lynx scored twice in the fifth on RBI singles by Jason Jaramillo and Brennan King. Richmond added a run in the seventh on a home run by Martin Prado. Blaine Boyer earned the win. Bubba Nelson took the loss. Prado had three hits for the Braves. Jaramillo had three hits for the Lynx. In game two, Richmond again jumped out early. Brent Lillibridge smacked a home run off the Click-fil-A Fowl Pole in left to give Richmond a 2-0 lead. Joe Thurston doubled a run home in the third to cut Richmond's lead in half but the Braves responded by scoring five runs in the home half. Brandon Jones knocked in a run with a ground out. Brayan Pena, Larry Bigbie, and Carlos Mendez knocked in runs with singles. Wes Timmons capped the rally with a sac fly. Buddy Hernandez knocked in a run with a single in the fifth to give the Braves an 8-1 lead. The Lynx added a run in the sixth on a home run by Brennan King that also whacked the Chick-fil-A Fowl Pole in left. Richmond tacked on two more runs in the bottom half on an RBI triple by Larry Bigbie and a run-producing single by Mendez. Hernandez earned his seventh win. Brian Sanches took the loss. Bigbie and Mendez had three hits each for Richmond. King had two hits for the Lynx.
DOUBLE DIPPING: The Braves have played five doubleheaders in 2007 and swept four. All five doubleheaders have been at The Diamond but three of the five included make-ups of games postponed on the road. The Braves won all three games in which they were the "visiting team" at The Diamond. Richmond is 9-1 in doubleheader games this season. They have at least one more doubleheader in 2007 (August 1 vs. Indianapolis).
LEADERS OF THE PACK: The Braves lead the IL in ERA (3.52), shutouts (12), and fewest home runs allowed (62). Richmond is second in steals (101). Martin Prado leads the league in hitting (.326). Gregor Blanco is fourth in runs scored (61). The Braves are second in steals (101).
LOOKING FOR FIVE: The Braves have won four straight games. This is their third winning streak of four or more games this season. Richmond last won four straight June 17-20. They won eight straight in April.
STREAKERS: Doug Clark has hits in six straight games (10-19 .526). Brent Lillibridge seven game hitting streak ended last night. Martin Prado (8-21 .381) has hits in five straight games. Carlos Mendez (6-14 .429) has hits in four straight games.
D-FENCE: The Braves lead the International League in fielding percentage (.984), fewest errors committed (60), and highest percentage of opponents caught stealing (59- 131 .450). Corky Miller leads the league's catchers in (36-77 .468). Martin Prado has committed one error in 331 chances over 66 games at second base. Braves outfielders have 29 assists this season.
