Richmond, VA - The Richmond Braves beat the Ottawa Lynx 2-0 Thursday at The Diamond. Five Braves pitchers combined to blank the Lynx on three hits as Richmond won their fifth straight game.
The Braves picked up all the offense they would need in the first inning when Carlos Mendez knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly. Richmond was gifted with an insurance run in the eighth on four walks. Wes Timmons drew a bases loaded walk to knock in a run. Meanwhile the Lynx had just one runner past first base. The Braves equaled a season low with two hits.
Ryan Basner picked up the win. Braves starter Dan Smith, in his first start back from the DL, did not allow a run in four innings. Manny Acosta notched a save. Zach Schreiber and Will Startup also contributed scoreless stints. Fabio Castro took the loss.
