Potomac Nationals News Release
WOODBRIDGE, Va- Conventional baseball wisdom goes like this: if a team can win two thirds of their games at home and go .500 on the road, they are likely destined for postseason play. Right now, the Potomac Nationals have made opposing ballparks just as cozy as Pfitzner Stadium.
Carrying a record of 12-7 away from the cozy confines of the Pfitz, the P-Nats return home to Woodbridge Tuesday morning after a seven-game road trip which saw the team take the first six contests, sweeping the Wilmington Blue Rocks at Frawley Stadium and taking two of three from the Winston-Salem Dash at Wake Forest Baseball Park.
The Nationals will welcome the Salem Red Sox to Woodbridge for a three-game series starting Tuesday morning with a special start time of 11:00 a.m.
Though the team will relish the chance to sleep in their own beds albeit for a short time, with the way they are playing on the road right now, they should be excited about once again hitting the open highway.
On the promotional side, the Potomac Nationals have plenty of great ways to get you and your entire family out to the Pfitz for this short but sweet homestand.
Set your alarm early on Tuesday and keep your finger off that snooze button, as the P-Nats and Red Sox will take part in an early bird special at Pfitzner Stadium with the Business Special. First pitch is at a special start time of 11:00 a.m, so tell your boss to bring the entire office for a day of fun, sun, and best of all, no hassle from the boss about the cover sheets on your TPS reports or any attitude about "PC load letters" from the copy machine.
Like every Tuesday home game, Tuesdays at the Pfitz are Salute to Service Tuesdays where all military, first responders, and teachers receive free tickets with proof of a valid service ID.
Wednesday is Belly Buster Night at Pfitzner Stadium where just $12 gets you a grandstand ticket to the game as well as all-you-can-eat burritos from Moe's Southwest Grill and select items from Uno's pizzeria while supplies last. Never-ending hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, and popcorn are also available with the Belly Buster promotion. Game time is 7:05 ET with gates opening an hour before first pitch.
Wendy's will also sponsor Wendy's Wednesdays at the ballpark where a receipt from one of Wendy's Old-Fashioned combo meals gives fans the opportunity to purchase buy-one-get-one-free tickets for that night's game.
The third and final night of the homestand is Ladies Night at Pfitzner Stadium where all ladies get half price tickets to see the P-Nats take on the Red Sox to defend their 2008 Carolina League championship. Like every Thursday, live bands will be playing on the concourse both before and after the game.
The Virginia Lottery is also sponsoring Second Chance Thursdays at the Pfitz. Fans can bring in any non-winning Washington Nationals scratch-lotto ticket for the chance to purchase buy-one-get-one-free tickets.
The P-Nats will get right back out on the road again after their series with the Sox as they begin a three-game set with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans from BB&T Coastal Field in Myrtle Beach.
