Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights News Release

Ladies In Pink Night
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights (11-19-1, 23pts.)
vs.
Jamestown Rebels (19-9-3, 41pts.)
First of Four Consecutive Games Between the Teams to Start 2019.
We're Back
It's been 17 days since the last game Wilkes-Barre/Scranton played. The team comes into 2019 having lost the previous four, but time off has allowed the players and coaching staff to jump into the new year with a clear mind and somewhat of a fresh start. It may not have been the first half of a season the Knights had hoped for, but they control their own destiny. As teams look to the standings for the beginning of the push to the playoffs, the Knights find themselves on the outside looking in, sitting two points back of Maryland for the fourth and final playoff spot in the NAHL's east division.
One in, One Out
We can't say it was all rest over the holiday break. Knights general manager and head coach Tom Kowal announced just before the end of the year that the team had acquired forward John Kaljian from the Brookings Blizzard.
Kaljian is one of eight players on the Knights that hails from Michigan. The 19-year-old already has 20 games of NAHL experience, having scored seven goals for the Blizzard in the central division this season.
With addition comes subtraction however, as the Knights sent forward Brett Postula to the Leamington Flyers of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL).
The Roaring Rebels
Jamestown comes to the Keystone State winners of four straight and 10 of their last 12. This surge has propelled the club to second in the division, yet still trailing the first place Johnstown Tomahawks by a mile, thanks to a 17 point gap.
Forward Alex Frye has been the leading scorer for the Rebels all season long. His recent stretch of points in 12 of 14 games serves as a big contributor to the teams' success. Frye has 12 of his 18 goals this season over the past 14 games, and has piled up 20 points in that span.
Lemont, IL native Jim Glynn skates into the new year still riding a 12 game point streak, which set the record for longest point streak in Rebels franchise history, dating all the way back to their time in Rio Grande, TX. Glynn started the year with just a goal and two assists through 19 games before blasting off to become one of the hottest players in the league.
For What It's Worth
The Rebels lead the season series against the Knights six games to none. This will be the final weekend Jamestown visits Wilkes-Barre during the 2018-19 regular season. Next weekend the Knights will pay a visit to New York for a pair of games at Northwest Arena.
Tyrone Bronte finished strong in 2018, tallying six points in the last nine games of the year, while also going +2 in that stretch. Gabe Temple leads Wilkes-Barre on the season in +/- with +4.
Defenseman Caden Lewandowski played in a game for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton back in November. The Knights have since tendered the '00 defenseman, along with goalie Alex Contey over the holiday break. The players join Aaron Hamel as the first three tenders for the grey and blue this season.
Friday's game is Ladies In Pink Night, featuring special pink jerseys worn by the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights. All fans in attendance will have a chance to bid on these jerseys during a postgame auction. Tickets for this contest are 50% off in support of this great cause. Go to the front desk at Revolution Ice Centre to get your $5.00 seats!
