Quick Camden Spurt Bumps Off Barnstormers

Lancaster Stormers News Release
Lancaster's pitching was brilliant early Thursday - except for one six-batter spurt in the sixth inning.
That quick burst proved to be enough for the Camden Riversharks, who took the rubber game of a three-game series at Campbell's Field, 4-2.
Yasser Gomez opened the sixth with a line drive single to left off Brian Tallet (0-1). Paddy Matera cranked an RBI double off the left field wall, and Delwyn Young chased him to third with a ground single through the left side. Raul Padron delivered the tying run with a solid single into right field as Young advanced to second.
Both runners moved up on a sacrifice bunt along the third base line by Eddy Perez. Manager Butch Hobson went to his bullpen for Jay Buente, but the right-hander was physically unable to face a batter. Yoslan Herrera was rushed into the game and was greeted by Salomon Manriquez' two-run double down the right field line that provided the Riversharks with their final margin.
Outside of those six batters, the Barnstormers checked Camden on four singles. Horacio Ramirez, filling in for Will Savage, who missed the game with a rib cage injury, tossed four scoreless innings, escaping a bases loaded jam in the fourth. Herrera allowed one more hit, and Derrick Loop retired all four batters he faced, three on strikes.
However, the Barnstormers managed to reach Mike McGuire (2-1) for only a two-run homer by Travis Denker in the third. They put runners at first and second with nobody out in the fourth, but Kevin Howard bounded into a 4-6-3 double play. Kody Kirkland ended the inning with a foul fly ball down the right field line.
Gustavo Molina opened the eighth with a double into the right field corner. McGuire retired the next two batters, but Denker kept the threat alive with a single to left. Camden appeared to work around Daryle Ward, loading the bases and setting up a battle between McGuire and Ryan Harvey. The Lancaster right fielder nearly won it, spanking a ground ball down the first base line. Raul Padron was able to make a clean pick to his glove side to end the inning.
Adrian Martin closed out the game with a perfect ninth, earning his fifth save.
Lancaster heads to York for a four-game series beginning Friday night at 6:30. Dwayne Pollok (3-0) is slated to go for the Barnstormers against right-hander Brett Tomko. Fans may tune into 1390-AM, WLAN; 1600-AM, WPDC; 1390wlan.com or the I Heart Radio cellphone app, beginning at 6:15.
NOTES: Denker has homered in consecutive games...He had another washed out by rain last Friday...Lancaster has lost six straight day games...The Barnstormers have been held to four or fewer runs in nine straight losses...Lancaster and Camden do not meet again in the first half...The Barnstormers won the overall series, 6-4...Olmo Rosario singled to open the game, extending his hitting streak to ten games.
