Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Rancho Cucamonga, CA - Gavin Stone fired four scoreless innings and Jonny DeLuca extended his hitting streak to 13 straight games, as the Quakes hammered the Visalia Rawhide in the opening game of the six-game set, 10-2 on Tuesday night at LoanMart Field.
Stone fell one inning shy of picking up his first win of the year, allowing just one hit and one walk, while fanning six batters in setting the Quakes up to stop their brief two-game skid.
Julian Smith (2-3) took over for Stone and locked up the win thanks to two scoreless innings of his own.
Offensively, the night belonged to the Quakes, as they posted ten runs on 14 hits in the blowout.
DeLuca wasted little time extending his hitting streak, as he singled in his first at-bat and later homered (6) as part of his three-hit day.
Sam McWilliams had four hits, while Eddys Leonard also finished with a three-hit game.
Jorbit Vivas homered (6) to cap a four-run fifth and chase Visalia starter Austin Pope (0-5), who allowed nine runs on 11 hits over just four-plus innings.
The Quakes (20-16) will look for a second straight win over Visalia on Wednesday, as Robbie Peto (0-1) takes on Visalia's Blake Walston (1-1) at 6:35pm.
Wednesday night is another Terra Vista Animal Hospital Bark in the Ballpark, as dogs are welcome at LoanMart Field with the purchase of a $3 Pet Pass. Tickets are available for all Quakes home games at rcquakes.com.
