Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Lancaster, CA - Rancho responded to Saturday night's loss with a season-high 17 runs and 23 hits in a win over the Lancaster JetHawks Sunday night at The Hangar. Jeremy Rathjen had five hits and Corey Seager smacked a pair of homers in a 17-4 win for the Quakes.

Leading 1-0, Rancho Cucamonga (15-2, 47-40) scored four runs in the fourth inning and didn't look back. After an RBI single by Leo Rodriguez, Corey Seager blasted a three-run home run to right field that put Rancho up 5-0.

Rancho added a run in the fifth and three more in the sixth to take a 9-0 lead before Lancaster (6-11, 50-37) got on the board with a two-run double from Jobduan Morales.

In addition to all the offense, the Quakes got a fantastic performance on the mound from Jharel Cotton (3-5, 5.73). He struck out a career-high 10 batters in 6.2 innings while giving up just a pair of unearned runs on four hits and one walk.

Not content with a 9-2 lead, Rancho Cucamonga scored four more in the eighth on three home runs. Steven Proscia and Jeremy Rathjen led off the frame with back-to-back homers. Later in the inning with a man aboard, Seager crushed his second long ball of the game and his 17th of the year. He finished the night 4-for-6 with six RBIs to go along with his two home runs.

In the ninth, Lancaster sent a pair of position players to the mound and Rancho scored four more runs. With the bases loaded, Jeremy Rathjen hooked a two-run double down the left field line. Rathjen finished the night 5-for-6 with four doubles and a home run.

Eight Quakes had multiple hits in the game and six had a run batted in. Rancho won by 13 runs, their largest margin of victory this season. In the team's nine-game win streak that came to an end on Saturday, the team won all nine games by three runs or fewer.

Rancho plays its final regular season game at The Hangar on Monday night. A victory would give them their first series win in Lancaster. Tom Windle (8-4, 3.72) looks to continue an impressive Second Half against southpaw Kent Emanuel (3-2, 6.24) for the JetHawks. First pitch is at 6:30 pm and the game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports AM 1350 starting with the LoanMart Pregame Report at 6:15 pm.
