Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

San Bernardino, CA - The Quakes earned their first sweep on the road this year, demolishing Inland Empire on Thursday night by a final of 15-1 at San Manuel Stadium.

Andrew Toles had a season-high four hits, while Tim Locastro drove in a season-high five runs as Rancho accomplished season-bests in both runs (15) and hits (23).

Starter Andrew Sopko was strong, but got overshadowed by the offensive explosion. Sopko, staked to a 3-0 lead after one and a 10-0 advantage after two, allowed a fifth-inning run over a total of five innings to earn his second straight win overall. Sopko (2-0) scattered five hits and walked two, striking out seven hitters.

Toles recorded his first of four hits to lead off the game, as he ripped a triple to right, then scored on a Tim Locastro sac fly for a 1-0 lead. Kyle Garlick homered with a solo homer to make it 2-0. Two batters later, Matt Beaty doubled and then scored on a Joey Curletta RBI single, making it a 3-0 advantage over Inland Empire starter Jake Jewell (0-3).

The Quakes got after it in the second, sending ten men to the plate en route to a seven-run frame. Locastro and Jordan Tarsovich each swatted a three-run homer in the inning, making it 10-0 Quakes after two.

Rancho added single runs in the sixth and seventh, then capped the scoring with three in the ninth off Brian Loconsole, making it 15-1.

The Quakes (14-7) open a three-game series with first-place High Desert on Friday night, sending Grant Holmes (2-2) to the mound against David Ledbetter (1-1) in the opener. Friday is another Family RV $1 Family Feast Night, as fans will enjoy hot dogs, Pepsi products and ice cream sandwiches throughout the night, thanks to Family RV.
