Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Rancho Cucamonga, CA - The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes dropped their third straight game, falling to 2-7 at The Epicenter this year, after Friday night's 7-3 loss to the Lancaster JetHawks.
Quakes' starter Manaurys Correa (0-2) couldn't contain the Lancaster offense, as they scored in each of their first five innings.
A Correa wild pitch allowed Albert Cartwright to score in the first, as the JetHawks took a 1-0 lead.
Roberto Lopez answered in the bottom of the inning though, blasting a two-run homer to left field off of Lancaster starter Shane Wolf (1-1), putting the Quakes up 2-1.
In the second, Brandon Barnes legged out an inside-the-park home run, as his drive off the center field fence kicked away from center fielder Tyson Auer. By the time that right fielder Angel Castillo caught up to it, Barnes had scored to tie the game at 2-2.
The JetHawks took the lead for good in the third, as David Flores' RBI single plated Mark Ori, making it a 3-2 Lancaster advantage.
The JetHawks got another in the fourth and then three more in the fifth to chase Correa, taking a commanding 7-2 lead.
Alexi Amarista pulled the Quakes to within four, as his RBI single with two outs in the fifth brought home Auer, making it 7-3.
That's as close as Rancho Cucamonga would get though, as they stranded eight total base runners, including two each in the sixth and seventh respectively.
Amarista finished with a Quakes' season-high four hits, going 4-for-5.
With the loss, the Quakes (7-9) fall two games back of High Desert in the South Division.
On Saturday night, the Quakes try to get back on track, sending Tyler Chatwood (1-1) to the mound against Kyle Greenwalt (1-0) at 7:05pm. Everyone will enjoy post-game Fireworks on Saturday night, thanks to KOLA 99.9. Tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at The Epicenter very soon. Go Quakes!
