Lancaster JetHawks News Release

(RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA) - Three hour tours apparently do not just happen on television. A road closure led to a detour that doubled the JetHawks commute time to Rancho Cucamonga, but the delay didn't seem to bother the Lancaster offense. They scored at least one run in each of the first five innings then let the pitching do the rest in a 7-3 win over the Quakes. The JetHawks have won back-to-back road games for the first time this season and have won four of their last five games total.

With highway 138 closed due to an accident, the JetHawks were pushed onto a detour that led deep into the San Gabriel mountains to an elevation of 7,381 feet. After pausing near the summit to take pictures by the snow, the players returned to bus and made their way to the Epicenter, arriving an hour and a half after their intended time.

Inspired by their scenic route, the JetHawks hitters built a five-run lead in the first half of the game. Trailing 2-1 in the second inning, Brandon Barnes hit an inside-the-park home run off the center field wall to tie the game. David Flores' RBI single in the third put Lancaster in the lead for good. That lead was extended by another run in the fourth inning and three more scores in the fifth when the JetHawks opened the frame with four consecutive singles.

The beneficiary of the seven-run output was starting pitcher Shane Wolf. The JetHawks lefty pitched a season-high five and 2/3 innings while giving up three runs and striking out six to earn his first win of the season. Brian Wabick and Edwin Walker combined for three and 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.

Eight of the nine Lancaster batters had at least one hit. Albert Cartwright, Mark Ori, David Flores, and Josh Flores each had two hits.

The JetHawks' road trip continues Friday night in Rancho Cucamonga. Kyle Greenwalt (1-0) will pitch for the JetHawks against Tyler Chatwood (1-1) of the Quakes. Tune in for all the live action beginning with the JetHawks pre-game show at 6:50 on www.jethawks.com/CSN and NewsTalk 1380 AM.
