
Quad City Mallards blanked the host Kansas City Mavericks

INDEPENDENCE, Mo - C.J. Motte made 26 saves and Ryan McGrath and Josh MacDonald scored second period goals one minute, 36 seconds apart and also collected an assist apiece as t he Quad City Mallards (7-9-1) blanked the host Kansas City Mavericks (11-8-0) 2-0 Sunday.
McGrath gave the Mallards a 1-0 lead by jamming in a rebound at 7:34 of the second. MacDonald then buried a wraparound at 9:10. Motte- who was at his busiest while making 12 third period saves- and the Mallards would smother the Mavericks the rest of the way.
The Mallards return to action Friday night against the Indy Fuel in Indianapolis. The Mallards next play at home Wednesday night, December 20 at 6:35 p.m. against the Fort Wayne Komets. Fans can enjoy $1 10-ounce beers from TaxSlayer Center concession stands during all Mallards Wednesday home games this season.
