Colorado Eagles News Release

LOVELAND, CO. - Eagles forwards Emil Romig and Julien Nantel each collected a pair of goals, as Colorado beat the Greenville Swamp Rabbits 6-1 on Saturday. The game also featured the Eagles annual "Stick Up for Kids" promotion, in which Colorado's game-used sticks were auctioned off to raise money for four local children's charities, helping raise over $59,000 by the end of the evening. Tonight's victory also gives the Eagles points in the standings in seven consecutive contests.

Colorado jumped on the board first when defenseman Collin Bowman deflected a shot from the point past Greenville goalie Brandon Halverson to put the Eagles on top 1-0 at the 16:01 mark of the first period.

Less than three minutes later, the Swamp Rabbits would tie the game at 1-1 when forward Nick Betz located a rebound in the crease on a power play and fed it into the back of the net.

With time ticking down in the first period, Romig would skate the puck between the circle before snapping a wrister that would light the lamp and put Colorado ahead 2-1 with 58 seconds left in the opening stanza.

The Eagles would begin the second period with 1:56 remaining on a power play and they would deliver, as Nantel fielded a cross-lot pass and fired the puck into the back of the net to extend Colorado's lead to 3-1 just 14 seconds into the middle frame.

Romig would notch his second goal of the evening when he bolted into the offensive zone before unfurling a wrister from the left circle past Halverson to push the Eagles advantage to 4-1. The goal would also signal the end of the night for Halverson, who surrendered four goals on 20 shots.

With Ty Rimmer now in net, Colorado would put him to the test just 20 seconds after Romig's tally, as forward Matt Garbowsky raced down the ice, cutting through the slot and burying a wrist shot from between the circles to give the Eagles a 5-1 lead at the 14:19 mark of the second period.

Moving into the third period, Colorado would throw 20 shots on net and a five-minute major assessed to Curt Gogol would open the door for Nantel to deflect a puck past Rimmer to push the Eagles advantage to 6-1 with just 27 seconds remaining in regulation.

Joe Cannata improved to 7-0-1-0 on the season, stopping 21 of the 22 shots he faced, as Colorado outshot Greenville 43-22 in the contest.

The Eagles return to action on Friday, December 1st at 7:05pm when they face the Utah Grizzlies at the Budweiser Events Center.

Season tickets for the 2017-18 season are on-sale now and can be reserved with a $100 deposit per seat by calling the Eagles ticket office at 970-686-SHOT (7468).
