DAVENPORT, Iowa - The Quad Cities River Bandits came into Thursday's rubber match with Kane County having won just one home series so far this season. When all was said and done, a strong start from left-hander Jonathan Cornelius and a game-tying two-run triple by second baseman Colin Walsh in the seventh inning led Quad Cities to a 4-3 win over the Cougars in front of 7,023 fans at Modern Woodmen Park.

Trailing 3-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh, Quad Cities third baseman Neal Pritchard drew a leadoff four-pitch walk off right-handed reliever Cody Fassold (1-2). After Luis Mateo struck out looking, Nick Martini drew his third walk of the night, giving Quad Cities two runners on and one out. Second baseman Colin Walsh then hit a line drive down the third base line for his team-leading fourth triple of the season, scoring both Pritchard and Martini. Walsh then advanced on a wild pitch to score, making it a 4-3 Quad Cities' lead.

Left-hander Jonathan Cornelius did not factor into the decision, but gave the River Bandits a six-inning start. Although he allowed three runs, only one was earned, and after throwing 46 pitches through the first two innings, he needed only 42 pitches to get through the next four innings, setting down nine in a row and eleven of twelve at one point.

Kane County (34-33) scored first for the third consecutive game, with two runs in the top of the first against Cornelius. Left fielder Tim Ferguson led off the game with a single, and advanced on a wild pitch. Jorge Bonifacio then singled to move Ferguson to third, giving Kane County two on and one out. Ferguson then scored on a passed ball by River Bandits' catcher Casey Rasmus with Lane Adams at the plate. Third baseman Michael Antonio then hit a single that scored Bonifacio and made it a 2-0 game.

Quad Cities (33-34) answered back in the bottom of the second, scoring their first run of the night on an RBI double by Luis Mateo that scored David Medina, who walked to lead off the inning off Cougars' starter Jason Mitchell. The right-hander threw 5 2/3 innings of one-run ball, allowing just three base hits while striking out and walking four batters.

An RBI double by Bonifacio in the top of the fifth made it a 3-1 Kane County lead. The Cougars third baseman went 6-for-14 (.429) in the series with a home run, two doubles and eight RBI.

Bob Revesz (1-1) pitched two scoreless innings in relief of Cornelius, and earned his first win as a member of the River Bandits. Heath Wyatt pitched a perfect ninth inning to notch his team-leading ninth save of the season. The attendance of 7,023 fans was the fourth largest at Modern Woodmen Park since the start of the 2008 season.

Quad Cities opens a three-game set with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers Friday night at 7:00 p.m. Left-hander Hector Hernandez (4-4) is scheduled to start for the River Bandits and right-hander Chad Thompson is set to start for the Timber Rattlers.
