QMJHL adopts policy regarding the use of social media
December 1, 2011 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) News Release
MONTREAL, Thursday, December 1st, 2011 - Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Commissioner Gilles Courteau today announced a new policy to legislate the use of social media.
" The QMJHL understands and appreciates the importance of social networking as it relates to the personal and professional lives of its stakeholders," said the Commissioner. "Although social media represent an important forum so that our publics can establish relationships, share information and opinions, it also represents an unsupervised medium for inappropriate conduct to occur; conduct which can be detrimental to the welfare of the League and its actors. As such, the QMJHL holds its actors, which use or participate in social networking, to the same standards as it does for all forms of media."
