Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release

WINNIPEG, MB., October 18, 2017 - Winnipeg Blue Bomber fans raised the equivalent of 202,071 pounds of food for Winnipeg Harvest as part of the Purolator Tackle Hunger program. This total surpasses last season's donation by over 70,000 pounds and is the highest total donation of all nine teams in the Canadian Football League. "We challenged Bomber fans to reclaim the top of the leaderboard in food donations, and they more than surpassed expectations, as we knew they would," said President & CEO of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Wade Miller. "The food and funds raised will go a long way in feeding those affected by hunger in Winnipeg and surrounding areas." Now in its 15th season, the Purolator Tackle Hunger program raises awareness, food and funds for local food banks across Canada.

Purolator organizes a game day food drive in every CFL city, encouraging fans to drop off non-perishable food items or a cash donation in support of food banks in their communities. This is in addition to the food collected at each Blue Bomber home game throughout the season: a partnership that is celebrating 30 years of support for Winnipeg Harvest.
