Clearwater Threshers News Release

CLEARWATER, Fla. - Andrew Pullin led the charge with a two-homer day, as Clearwater came from behind to best the Daytona Tortugas 10-6 on Sunday afternoon at Bright House Field.

Clearwater (35-22) erased a 5-0 deficit, rallying for a six-spot in the sixth inning to take game one in what could be a preview of the FSL North Championship series. Daytona (34-21) and the Threshers are now tied atop the FSL North second-half standings, after Clearwater clinched the first half.

Pullin led the charge with a 4-for-4 day, smacking a pair of two-run homers and finishing with four runs batted in. The Threshers outfielder increased his career-best totals to 14 home runs and 70 RBI's.

The Threshers found themselves down 5-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning on Sunday.

It was Wilson Garcia who got the rally going, knocking a double to right-center off starter Nick Routt to set the Threshers up with their first runner in scoring position on the afternoon. Derek Campbell followed by sending a triple to deep right-center to plate Clearwater's first run.

After Malquin Canelo walked, Carlos Tocci pulled a grounder to third that went through the legs of third baseman Ronald Bueno for an error, allowing Campbell to cross and putting two men in scoring position with nobody out.

One out later, Rhys Hoskins greeted reliever Scott Brattvet (2-1) by crushing a two-run double to left, and Pullin followed with a high fly over the wall in right to put the Threshers in front, 6-5.

Clearwater mounted another surge in the eighth. After Dylan Cozens was hit by a pitch and stole second, Hoskins grounded a single up the middle to score Cozens. Pullin followed by shooting a liner off the foul pole in right, his second two-run homer of the day.

Garcia capped the rally with an RBI single, putting Clearwater up 10-5.

Harold Guerrero (2-2) earned the win, allowing one run on one hit in 2.2 innings of relief. Alexis Rivero permitted a solo shot to Brian O'Grady in the ninth, but struck out three in earning his third save.

The Threshers will host Daytona for game two on Feeding Frenzy Monday, with first pitch at 7 p.m. Mark Leiter, Jr. (5-1) takes the hill against Amir Garrett (9-6), and the call can be heard live on the Threshers Broadcast Network starting at 6:45 p.m.
