
Pulfer Named Player of the Week

GARY, IN - Gary South Shore RailCats' third baseman Danny Pulfer was named the Poinstreak Player of the Week in the American Association for the week of July 13-20. Pulfer, who was also named a starter on the North All-Star team earlier this month, went 12-23 with nine RBI this week while helping lead the RailCats to a 5-2 record in that span.
On Monday night against Fargo-Moorhead, Pulfer a game-winning double in a 5-4 win for the RailCats, finishing 2-3 with three RBI. On Tuesday, he went 4-4 with a pair of triples, helping Gary win 7-6. Friday night it was a Pulfer hard hit ball that was charged an error that brought home three more for the South Shore. On Saturday, against the Amarillo Sox, Pulfer helped bust the game open late with a three-run homer in the eighth inning and he added another RBI in a 7-6 Sunday loss.
The former University of Oregon Duck is now hitting .342 with eight doubles, six triples, six home runs and 46 RBI. Pulfer is the first position player for the South Shore to be tabbed the POW and the second RailCat to grab a weekly honor. RHP Dustin Crenshaw was named the pitcher of the week for the week of June 2nd - 8th.
The RailCats start a four game series in Sioux City on Monday with a 7:05 start. Dan Vaughan will have the call on WEFM and railcatsbaseball.com.
