Wichita Thunder News Release

Wichita, KS (April 4th) - The Wichita Thunder of the Central Hockey League, powered by Toyota, is excited to announce the final totals of the Pucks for Bucks program that helped raise money for the Child Advocacy Center of Sedgwick County. This past year, Reddi Industries stepped up to the plate to be a part of this great promotion and went above and beyond the call of duty, donating $2,000 to the charity. The check was presented at the Thunder game on March 15th during the first intermission.

The Pucks for Bucks Program was designed to help raise money each game while keeping the fans engaged. For every save made by a Thunder goaltender, Reddi Industries agreed to donate $1 to a charity of its choosing. At the end of the regular season, a representative would have a chance to make a check presentation on the ice. Reddi Industries chose the Child Advocacy Center and was very excited to participate in this promotion. The Thunder finished up last week with three road games in Arizona and totaled over 1,700 saves by Wichita netminders.

"These are kids who really need support and CAC provides the outlet for them to get the help they need," said Zack Steven, Executive Vice President of Reddi Industries. "It's an amazing organization located here in Wichita, working with kids from Sedgwick county. It's a great charity and one that has a direct impact on our community."

The Child Advocacy Center of Sedgwick County is a nonprofit organization that has been at the forefront of child protection and helping to provide services for the victims of child abuse. Sedgwick County has been a leader in this development of the Exploited and Missing Child Unit (EMCU) for over 20 years. To learn more about how to help, visit their website at www.cacsckansas.org.

"The money that Reddi Industries has donated to us helps provide direct services free of charge to victims of child abuse and their families especially therapy and advocacy," commented Diana Schunn, Executive Director of the Child Advocacy Center of Kansas. "We see roughly 2,000 children each year in the Sedgwick County Area. This helps us to continue our services and we can't thank them enough for being a fabulous partner of ours."

The Thunder concluded their season last week with three games in Arizona. Wichita will not partake in the playoffs for the first time since 2009-10. The Thunder reached the finals in back-to-back seasons and lost in last year's championship round to the Allen Americans in seven games.
