Public Safety Fall Festival Comes to Coolray Field on October 1

The Gwinnett Braves are pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Gwinnett County Public Safety Fall Festival will return to Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, GA, for a day of fun and educational activities for all ages on Saturday, October 1st from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Highlighting the day's events will be the best-of-three games softball series pitting the Gwinnett County Police Department against the Gwinnett County Fire Department in the Battle of the Badges Softball Game. Other aspects of this free event include a blood drive, touch-a-truck displays, car seat checks, and a car show.

For the second year in a row, the Public Safety Festival will showcase various equipment utilized by local law enforcement, including helicopters and motorboats, as well as fire engines and ambulances. Kids will get a chance to explore the vehicles as well as learn important lessons about safety through hands-on activities and games. Local mascots will also be on hand, including Scruff McGruff, the Crime Dog, and Chopper of the Gwinnett Braves.

"The Public Safety Fall Festival really celebrates the partnership between the GCPD, GCFES and the community as a whole, and we encourage all Gwinnett County residents to join us for this fun, free event," said Officer Jeffery Richter.

"Both agencies are coming together to promote safety and to encourage partnerships with members of the community and public safety professionals," said Gwinnett Fire Captain Tommy Rutledge.

Organizers anticipate that other governmental and nonprofit agencies will be present to provide helpful safety information, including pet adoptions from the Gwinnett County Animal Shelter. Overall, the event aims to bring together the community and those who serve it in a fun and safe environment.
