Published on September 14, 2011 under International League (IL1) News Release

Triple-A Baseball (International and Pacific Coast Leagues) announced today that the American Forces Network will showcase the 2011 Triple-A National Championship Game, set for Tuesday, September 20 at 6:05 p.m MT / 8:05 p.m. ET, for the U.S. Armed Forces stationed overseas. The American Forces Broadcast Center (AFN-BC) will carry the winner-take-all game live via the VERSUS telecast.

AFN-BC distributes U.S. entertainment, sports and news programming to approximately 1 million U.S. Armed Forces and Department of Defense civilian employees and their families stationed outside the United States in 175 countries and aboard more than 140 U.S. Navy ships at sea. More information about the AFN-BC and the well-deserving audience it serves can be found by visiting www.myafn.net.

The 2011 Triple-A Baseball National Championship Game will determine the overall champion of the classification. On September 20, the International League's Governors' Cup Champion and the Pacific Coast League Champion will meet in Albuquerque's Isotopes Park in a winner-take-all showdown. The International League club will be considered the home team for this year's game, thanks to the IL's victory at July's Triple-A All-Star Game.

Triple-A Baseball, Minor League Baseball's highest classification, is comprised of 30 teams throughout America which develop talent for Major League affiliates while providing affordable entertainment for fans of all ages. The 2011 campaign is the 109th season of operation for the Pacific Coast League and the 128th season for the International League.

The National Championship Game will be televised in the U.S. on VERSUS, part of NBC Sports Group. This will be the second consecutive year that Minor League Baseball's pinnacle event has been broadcast live on VERSUS. In the 2010 Triple-A National Championship Game, Columbus defeated Tacoma 12-6.

Albuquerque Isotopes broadcaster Robert Portnoy will serve as the play-by-play voice of the Triple-A National Championship Game, to be joined in the booth by former MLB and Triple-A player and manager Bucky Dent. Pawtucket Red Sox broadcaster Steve Hyder will serve as the field reporter.
