Prowlers Score Four in the Third to Shutdown River Drivers

Berlin, NH - Port Huron Prowlers late surge lifts them over the Berlin River Drivers.

The first period was a quiet one with each team netting one goal. Berlin started off the scoring 4:44 into the game when Jiri Pestuka buried a one-timer past Prowlers goalie Andy DiCristofaro. River Drivers Tyler Prendergast and Stephen Gallo had assists on the goal. The lead was short lived for Berlin when Port Huron tied the game at 1. That goal coming at 11:15 of the first when Justin Alonzo found the back of the net for the Prowlers. Joe Pace Jr got credit for the assist. Teams would head to the locker rooms 1-1 after one period of play.

The second period was much of the same as one would pull ahead just for the other team to comeback. At 4:08 of the second Port Huron's Matt Fuller gave the visitors the lead with Dustin Skinner and Jared Hicks assists on the goal. Prowlers would make it 3-1 at 11:38 of the second when Alonzo buried on home coming from Ludlow Harris. The Riverdrivers would mount a comeback and tie the game back up with 2 goals just 31 seconds apart. At 13:52 Pavel Kubena found the back of the net with Curtis Warren and Austin Daae getting assists. Then Prendergast would make it 3-3 at 14:23 of the second period. Pestuka and Andre Niec with assists on the Prendergast goal.

After the second intermission teams would take to the ice with a 3-3 game and 20 minutes left to play. The tie game didn't last long, just 1:52 into the third Prowlers Hicks would make it 4-3. It would stay 4-3 until the final 4 minutes of play. Port Huron would break the game open at 16:28 as Paul Falco getting the goal. Down by two goals Berlin would go with the empty net. At 18:27 Scott Witmyer of the Prowlers would find the empty net giving the visitors a 6-3 advantage. Jason Pietrasiak extened the lead for the prowlers at 19:24 of the third and securing the win for Port Huron 7-3 over the Berlin River Drivers.
