River Drivers Big Second Period Leads to Victory over Brewster

Berlin, NH - Berlin Riverdrivers held on and came away with the win over the Brewster Bulldogs 6-3.

The first period was quite as each team found the back of the net once. Brewster's Alex Johnson gave the visitors the early 1-0 lead. Berlin would bounce back late in the first when Pavel Kubena tied the game at 1 on the powerplay coming at 18:08. Riverdrivers Chris Wilcox and Andre Niec got assists on the goal.

Both teams would head to the locker tied 1-1. When the second period would resume it would belong to Berlin. Just :18 seconds into the 2nd periond Cameron Yardwood would break the tie game. Tyler Prendergast and Kubena had assists on the go ahead goal. At 11:01 Kubena would net his second of the game coming from Prendergast and David Brancik. Berlin extended their lead three at 16:09 when Curtis Warren put the puck home making in 4-1. Marcus Mitchell and Wilcox had assists on the goal. Berlin would take their 4-1 lead into the final 20 minutes of play.

Berlin started the 3rd off where they left off in the second. The Riverdrivers would make it 5-1 just 2:19 into the final period with Mitchell finding the back of the net shorthanded. Warren and Nick Wright got credit for assists. Brewster would try to mount a comeback but couldn't pull it off. At 6:03 Bulldogs MJ Graham made it 5-2 coming from Nicolai Oklolbistyn. Brewster's final goal of the game came at 16:39 of the third scored by Ryan Dolence assisted by Oklolbistyn and Sean Maktaak. Berlin would cap off the win with an empty net goal coming at 19:20, Kubena would earn his hat trick with the goalie pulled. Warren and Berlin goalie Ryan Donovan would get assists on the play. Berlin takes to the ice again tomorrow at the Notre Dame Arena when the square off with the Port Huron Prowlers. Game time is 2:00pm.
