Berlin Tabs Dolman with First Pick in FHL Dispersal Draft

Berlin, NH - The Berlin River Drivers selected Dayton forward Michael Dolman with the first pick in the Federal Hockey League's dispersal draft on Friday, July 15, for the players from the Dayton and Brewster franchises.

Brewster and Dayton suspended operations for next season. A dispersal draft allows all of their players to be chosen by the current teams.

The River Drivers secured the top pick by trading Tyler Prendergast to the St. Clair Fighting Saints prior to the dispersal draft. The move paved the way to draft Dolman, and gave Berlin three picks in the top 10.

Dolman, 26, is a 6'2", 210 pound forward from Hawthorne, N.J.

Dolman, who played forward for Dayton last year in his second season in the FHL, was 15th in the league in scoring for forwards in 2015-16. In 51 games, he scored 24 goals and added 39 assists for 63 points.

He finished just two points behind Berlin's top marksman Tom Tracy last season. Tracy has 22 goals and 43 assists in 43 games.

Dolman also had 106 penalty minutes, ranking third highest among the leading scoring forwards.

In 2014-15 with Berkshire, Doleman had 80 points in 52 games with 28 goals and 52 assists. He had 97 penalty minutes.

Last season, Prendergast, 26, a 5'10", 170-pound forward, had 58 points in just 31 games with 26 goals and 32 assist. he also had 14 penalty minutes.

With its second selection, the third pick overall, the River Drivers grabbed Brewster's John Scully.

Scully, 26, from Arlington Heights, Ill. played forward for Brewster last season. He finished the season with 58 points (25 goals and 33 assists) in 55 games. He tallied 71 penalty minutes in 2015-16.

Scully played for Steel City and Danville in 2014-15, collecting 33 points in 40 games (17 goals and 16 assists), with 45 minutes in the sin bin.

Berlin plucked Brewster's Sean Maktaak with the 10th selection overall.

Maktaak, 24, of Penticton, British Columbia, is a physical defenseman. At 6'1", 190 pounds, he recorded 111 penalty minutes in 44 games in his first season in the FHL. Offensively, he tallied 27 points (7 goals and 20 assists.

The Class-A level professional Federal Hockey League is entering its seventh season of operation in 2016 with teams located in Danbury (Conn.), Berlin, Danville (Ill.), Port Huron, (Mich.), St.Clair Shores (Mich.) and Watertown, (N.Y.).

In its history, over 800,000 fans have watched FHL hockey. The league has promoted over 200 players.
