Providence Bruins sign Chris Dyment and David Gove

The Providence Bruins announced today that they have signed defenseman Chris Dyment and forward David Gove to American Hockey League contracts for the upcoming 2004-05 season.
"We're happy to have Chris and David join our team," said head coach Scott Gordon. Both players are young and skilled, and we expect them to make significant contributions. It's also exciting for them, as they are both from Massachusetts and now have the opportunity to become Bruins."
Dyment, a 6'3", 210-pound native of Reading, Massachusetts, is entering his third professional season. He tallied 20-52-72 totals and 122 PIM in 142 career games at Boston University from 1998-2002, twice being named a Hockey East All-Star and All-American. He was the Terriers' top scoring defenseman in 1999-2000 and 2001-02, and was named Hockey East's Best Defensive Defenseman as a senior.
Dyment was originally selected by the Montreal Canadiens as their third pick (fourth round), 97th overall, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. He began his career in the Minnesota Wild organization in 2002-03, posting 2-3-5 totals and 64 PIM in 40 games with their AHL affiliate, the Houston Aeros. Dyment, who turns 25 on October 24, won the Calder Cup with Houston and new Bruins teammate Jay Henderson that season. He began last season in Houston, before being traded by Minnesota to the Phoenix Coyotes on December 9. Dyment finished the season with the Coyotes' AHL affiliate, the Springfield Falcons.
Gove, a 26-year-old native of Centerville, Massachusetts, enters his fourth professional season. He tallied 57-86-143 totals and 58 PIM in 144 career games at Western Michigan University from 1997-2001. Gove was named a CCHA All-Star as a junior and senior, and was an All-American and Hobey Baker candidate as a senior. He led the CCHA in scoring as a senior with 22-37-59 totals in 39 games.
Gove played his first professional season in 2001-02, splitting the season between the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL) and Johnstown Chiefs (ECHL). He played most of the following season with the San Antonio Rampage (AHL), where his teammates included Bruin forward Brendan Walsh. Gove finished third on the Utah Grizzlies (AHL) in 2003-04 with 14-22-36 totals in 75 games.

The Providence Bruins open their 13th season at home at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Providence on Friday, October 15 at 7:05 p.m. against the Springfield Falcons.
