
Protas, Sapego Joining Team Belarus

Prince Albert, SK - Prince Albert Raiders forward Aliaksei Protas and defenceman Sergei Sapego are joining Team Belarus for the 2019 World Junior Division 1 Championship in Germany.
The pair of players from Vitebsk, Belarus have left for the tournament that begins on Sunday, December 9. The tournament is split between two groups of six teams. Belarus will compete in Group A with a berth in next year's World Junior Hockey Championship on the line.
Sapego joined the Raiders via waivers early last season. This year, Sapego is tied for eighth in scoring by defenceman with six goals and 18 assists. He also is a plus-29 on the year.
Protas was picked by the Raiders in the first round of the 2018 CHL Import Draft. This year, the 2019 NHL Draft eligible player has six goals and 17 assists while playing in all 27 games. He is currently second in rookie scoring in the WHL.
The 2019 World Junior Division 1 Championship Group A tournament runs until Saturday, December 15. Both Protas and Sapego are expected to rejoin the Raiders after the holiday break.
The Raiders continue their slate of games away from the Art Hauser Centre on Tuesday night when they head to Swift Current to face off against the Broncos (4-21-1-1) at the Innovation Credit Union i-plex. Puck drop is 7 p.m.
The next Raiders' home game is on Saturday, December 8 against the Brandon Wheat Kings (13-7-3-3).Tickets are available at the Raider Office and at raiderhockey.com. Game time is 7 p.m.
