Prokop Gives Hitmen Edge in OT

Saskatoon, SK - Josh Prokop scored his second goal of the night 2:31 into overtime to lift the Calgary Hitmen past the Saskatoon Blades 5-4 on Tuesday night at SaskTel Centre. Prokop also added an assist for his first career three point game in the Western Hockey League.

Both teams dug themselves out of trouble with Calgary erasing a 2-0 first period deficit less than six minutes into the game while Saskatoon overcame a 4-2 Hitmen lead to force the extra session.

Kaden Elder, Carson Focht and Riley Fiddler-Schultz also netted goals for the Hitmen with Focht adding an assist.

The Blades were powered by Dawson Davidson who tallied a goal and two assists. Kristian Roykas-Marthinsen, Josh Patterson and Brandon Schuldhaus provided the other markers.

Calgary outshot Saskatoon 41-40 with goaltender Carl Stankowski making 36 saves to record his first victory with the Hitmen.

Calgary now heads to Moose Jaw on Friday, Oct. 19 before wrapping up their four-game East Division tour in Brandon on Saturday, Oct. 20. Their next home game is Friday, Oct. 26 against the Lethbridge Hurricanes. That night is Roughnecks Theme Night at the Scotiabank Saddledome where the atmosphere will take on the look of a National Lacrosse League Calgary Roughnecks game. The puck drops at 7:00 p.m.

The 2018-19 Hitmen Hockey Pass is still available and includes 34 game tickets to be used anytime, in any combination. Pass holders also receive a $50 Scotiabank Saddledome gift card and a complimentary ticket to a select Flames, Roughnecks or Stampeders game. Passes start at less than $7 per ticket for kids and under $15 for adults.
