American Defenders of New Hampshire News Release
(Nashua, NH) Andy Dillard's two-out single in the bottom of the tenth inning lifted the Nashua Pride to a 9-8 victory over the New Haven County Cutters Saturday night before 2,286 at Historic Holman Stadium. The Pride stroked a season-high17 hits on the night as the two teams combined for 29.
Dillard's hit scored Tom Creighton who started the rally with a single. After Glenn Murray bunted Creighton to second base, Billy Becher was walked intentionally. Creighton and Becher then executed a double steal with both runners advancing into scoring position. One out later, Dillard's single to left plated Creighton.
Nashua (15-19) tied the game in the seventh. A two-out single by pinch hitter Tommy Rojas evened the score at 7-7.
New Haven County (20-16) took an 8-7 lead in the eighth against Pride reliever Jason Blanton. Nashua then tied it at 8-8 in the bottom of the ninth, again on a two-out run-scoring single off the bat of Rojas.
Nashua reliever Jamie Baker (2-0) worked a perfect tenth inning, recording his second win of the season. New Haven County closer Andy Weimer (3-1), who blew a save opportunity in the ninth inning, surrendered the Pride run in the tenth and was charged with his first loss of the season.
Sean Dobson had three hits and two runs batted in for the Pride. Chas Terni had three hits and three RBI's for the Cutters.
The Pride will be out for a series sweep and their fifth consecutive win on Sunday when the two teams conclude this three-game series. It'll be lefty Lenny Carter on the mound for Nashua with righthander Jarrett Stawarz scheduled to pitch for New Haven County.
