Pride Taken Down by Jackals; 10-2

(Nashua, N.H., August 12, 2008) The New Jersey Jackals spread a balanced attack, scoring both early and late, to beat the Nashua Pride, 10-2, at Historic Holman Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Jackals scored three runs in the first, a pair in the fourth, two in the seventh and eighth, followed by another in the ninth to keep a steady pressure on Pride pitching throughout the night. First baseman Juan Tejeda went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI. Second baseman Bryant Nelson was 2-for-4 with two RBI while right fielder Marcos Rodriguez also drove in a pair of runs and finished the night 2-for-5.

Jackals' starter Tom Atlee (2-4) earned the victory going six shut-out innings, giving up seven hits, one walk and five strike outs. Brandon Martin was first out of the bullpen and gave up both Pride runs on four hits while Ryan Pacyna pitched a scoreless ninth.

Pride starting pitcher Matt O'Brien (1-1) suffered the loss lasting six and two-thirds innings, giving up seven runs (six earned), on six hits, three walks and one strike out. Reliever Jarrett Stawarz went one and one-third innings and gave up two runs, on three hits, while Greg Ford gave up one run in one inning of work.

Nashua second baseman Ismael Castro went 3-for-4 in the game with an RBI. Jerod Edmondson drove in the only other Pride run and finished his night 1-for-3, with teammate Chris Torres going 2-for-4 with a double.

The Pride and Jackals will continue their series on Wednesday night, at 7:05pm, when Nashua sends Jason Paul (3-3) to the mound against New Jersey's Isaac Pavlik (7-4).
