Pride rattle Rox, 12-2, snap six-game losing streak

(Nashua, NH, July 29, 2006) The Nashua Pride put an end to their six-game losing streak Saturday night with a 12-2 triumph over the Brockton Rox in front of a sellout crowd of 2,929 on Bode Miller Night at Historic Holman Stadium.

The Pride (5-8, 22-33) were paced by East Swanzey's Bryan Duplissie who went four-for-five with his third home run of the season and two RBI. Tom Creighton added three hits and three RBI, newcomer Jayson Bass had his second straight three-hit night and Andy Dillard capped a six-run Pride third inning with a three-run homer, his third of the season. The Pride pounded out a season-high 18 hits off four Brockton pitchers.

Nashua lefty Mark Hamilton (5-5) worked seven innings to earn his fifth win of the season. Hamilton allowed just three hits and two earned runs, walking one and striking out five. Jason Blanton worked the final two innings for the Pride.

Brockton starter and loser Joey Baker (2-4)lasted just two and two-third innings, surrendering seven hits and eight runs, four of them earned. The Rox made three errors in the ballgame.

The Rox (7-6, 31-28) scored a run in the first off Hamilton on a double play grounder and their second run in the third on a solo homer by Brad Rosenblat, his fourth of the year.

World Cup skiing champ Bode Miller started in left field and batted second for the Pride. He struck out twice at the plate but made three putouts in the field including a sensational catch in the second inning, robbing Brockton's Mike Scanzano of extra bases to end the second inning.

The Pride and Rox conclude their four-game series Sunday afternoon at 2:05. Lefthander Jarrad Lavergne (2-4, 4.74) is scheduled to pitch for Nashua. Former Pride righthander Brad Guy (4-2 , 3.18) will be on the mound for Brockton. It's Rico Petrocelli Appreciation Day and Family Faith Day at Historic Holman Stadium.
