Worcester starting pitcher Greg Montalbano tossed a one-hitter, striking out five in the seven inning game, to record his fourth win of the season and pull the Tornadoes up to .500 for the second half. Offensively Worcester did all the scoring it needed in the first inning, thanks to a 2-run home run off the bat of 1B Chris Colabello. LF Josh Beauregard, who was 1-for-2 in the game, scored on the play to give the Tornadoes the 2-0 lead that would not change for the remainder of the contest. CF Lucas Taylor was a perfect 2-for-2 for Worcester to lead the offense and New Jersey 3B Wilton Veras recorded his team's lone hit. He was 1-for-2.

Worcester 7, New Jersey 1 (Game 2 - 7 innings)

Worcester got its second good outing of the day from its starting pitcher, this time Alex Pena. Pena allowed just one run, earned, on five hits through seven innings of work and struck out four to pick up the complete game win. The victory improves Pena's record to 3-1 this season and keeps the Tornadoes three games back of first-place Quebec, who also won both ends of a doubleheader. LF Josh Beauregard was 3-for-4 with two runs batted in and 1B Chris Colabello was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a run batted in to lead the offense for the second straight game. 3B Brian Rios also had two hits for Worcester in the contest. He finished 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Nashua 12, Brockton 2

Nashua pounded out 18 hits en route to its double-digit margin of victory, getting big nights from DH Bryan Duplissie and 2B Tom Creighton. Duplissie was 4-for-5 in the game, including his third home run of the season, with three runs scored and two runs batted in. Creighton was 3-for-5 with a run scored and he knocked in three. 3B Andy Dillard also hit his third home run of the year for Nashua. He finished the night 1-for-5 with a run scored and three runs batted in.

New Haven County 5, Sussex 2

New Haven County got a stellar performance from starting pitcher Rolando Valles, who allowed three hits through seven innings and did not allow a run en route to the win. The victory was Valles' fifth of the season and helped the Cutters improve to 7-6 in the second half. New Haven County LF Horace Lawrence led the Cutters offensively, going 3-for-4 with a run scored and another batted in. Lawrence also tripled in the game, giving him three this season. Cutters CF Marcus Nettles was also helpful in support of Valles, going 2-for-4 in the game with two runs scored. Sussex SS Robert LeNoir was the only Skyhawks hitter to record more than one hit in the game. He was 2-for-4.

Quebec 4, North Shore 3 (Game 1 - 7 innings)

Quebec got a solid start from right-hander Keith Dunn who allowed three runs, all earned, on seven hits through six innings to improve to 5-7 on the year. Capitales closer Christian Mendoza came on to finish off North Shore in the seventh, picking up his 11th save of the season. Quebec 1B Mathieu Bergeron was 2-for-3 with a run scored and two runs batted in to lead the Capitales at the plate. CF Geoffrey Tomlinson chipped in with a 1-for-3 night in which he scored twice. North Shore 1B Jeff Brooks was 3-for-3 with a run scored and a run batted in. He was the only Spirit player to record more than one hit in the game.

Quebec got more good pitching in the second game of its doubleheader thanks to starter Brad Purcell and reliever Jason Pilkington. Purcell allowed North Shore its only run, earned, on two hits through four innings of work and Pilkington came on in relief and notched his fourth win this season, allowing just one hit and striking out six. Capitales CF Geoffrey Tomlinson hit his first home run of the season in a 2-for-3 night and he knocked in all three of his teams runs in the game.
