Preview: Storm Set to Host Lancers for Game #4 of Corn Cup

Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm return home to the Viaero Center today for a home matchup against rival Omaha in the fourth game of the 2020 Corn Cup. Tri-City is one win away from clinching a victory in the inaugural Corn Cup Tournament and can do so today in front of its home fans. Tri-City (3-0-0-0) recorded its third win of the 2020 Corn Cup on Friday night at the Ice Box in Lincoln over the Lincoln Stars. The 4-0 road win was Tri-City's first shutout victory of the Corn Cup. Todd Scott turned away all 24 Stars' shots in the game and stopped Lincoln's Gleb Veremyev on a penalty shot in the 3rd period to preserve the shutout. Cole McWard, Victor Czerneckianair (2), and Nicholas Donato all scored in the Storm's road win at the Ice Box. The Storm's power play was 3/8 on the night and is now 25.0% in Corn Cup games this year. Friday's road game against Lincoln included 113 combined penalty minutes and 36 combined penalties between the Storm and the Stars. Though the opening three games of the Corn Cup, Guillaume Richard (2), Victor Czerneckianair (2), Drew Montgomery, Davis Burnside, Isac Jonsson, Morgan Winters, Nicholas Donato, Cole McWard, Caden Villegas, Vinny Borgesi, and Mason Wheeler have all scored goals for the Storm. Ryan Ouellette, Grant Riley, and Todd Scott have posted a combined record of 3-0-0-0 in net. The Storm's goaltenders have also produced a combined Goals Against Average (GAA) of 1.33 and a combined Save Percentage (SV%) of 0.938%.

Omaha (2-1-0-0) eliminated the Lincoln Stars from Corn Cup contention last night in a 4-1 road victory at the Ice Box in Lincoln. Matthew Basgall, Nolan Renwick, Zakary Karpa, and Tyle Carpenter produced four unanswered goals after the Stars scored the game's first goal at 8:55 of the 1st period. The Lancers outshot the Stars 12-2 in the 3rd period and 28-22 overall to record its second 4-1 victory over Lincoln in the 2020 Corn Cup. Jakub Dobes stopped 21 of Lincoln's 22 shots on net to record the victory in goal for Omaha. Entering today's road game against the Storm, the Lancers have scored ten goals and have allowed seven goals in the Corn Cup. Earlier this week, Omaha dropped a 5-2 decision to the Storm at the Viaero Center on Wednesday. The Lancers were outshot 37-18 and utilized both Cooper Black and Arseni Sergeyev in goal. Following today's road game against the Storm, Omaha returns to action on Thursday in a home matchup against Tri-City at Ralston Arena. The Lancers will conclude play in the Corn Cup in a home game against Lincoln on October 30th.
