Tri-City Storm News Release
Ralston, NE. - The Tri-City Storm return to Ralston Arena tonight for the first matchup of the final weekend of the preseason. Last weekend, Tri-City competed in three games at Ralston Arena in the I-80 Showcase. Tri-City will play the Omaha Lancers tonight on the road, and again tomorrow night at home to complete preseason play. Tickets to tomorrow's preseason game at the Viaero Center are available for purchase and are $5. The Storm enter tonight's game with a 3-1 record through four games played in the preseason. Tonight's game is set to begin at 7:05pm.
Tri-City (3-1) recorded wins over Des Moines and Omaha at last weekend's I-80 Showcase preseason event. The Storm league the USHL preseason standings entering the final weekend of the exhibition schedule. Last year, Tri-City collected ten of a possible twelve points during its six-game preseason schedule to clinch the best exhibition record of any USHL team. With two wins this weekend, Tri-City will match last season's preseason results. Tonight's game will be the team's fourth consecutive game at Ralston Arena, and second in a row against in state rival Omaha. Last time on the ice, Tri-City defeated the Lancers in a thrilling shootout finish on Sunday afternoon. Benji Eckerle, Mark Estapa, and Mitchell Miller each scored for the Storm during regulation, and Chikara Hanzawa netted the game winning goal for Tri-City in the shootout in Sunday's 4-3 win over Omaha. Joe Sharib stopped 44 of 47 shots on goal to record his 1st win of the preseason in net for Tri-City.
Omaha (1-1-0-1) battled the Des Moines Buccaneers at Buccaneer Arena in Urbandale, IA on Tuesday night following Sunday's shootout loss to rival Tri-City. The Lancers offense only produced one goal, and the team dropped its second game of the preseason by a final score of 6-1. Nolan Renwick scored the team's only goal in the loss. Like Tri-City, Omaha will complete preseason play this weekend following back to back games. The Lancers play a five-game preseason schedule before traveling to the USHL's regular season opening event, the 2019 DICKS Sporting Goods USHL Fall Classic next week. Following this weekend's preseason play against Tri-City, Omaha will open the season against Madison and Cedar Rapids on Thursday and Friday.
Tonight's game is set to begin at 7:05pm CT, and will be streamed live on HockeyTV, and Storm Radio. To purchase tickets to Storm home games at the Viaero Center, visit www.StormHockey.com or call 308-338-8144. #SeekShelter
