Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders have added goaltender Shamil Shmakov in a trade with the Lincoln Stars, the team announced today.
Shmakov, who is 6 ft. 6 inches tall, is a native of Moscow, Russia and was drafted in the 2018 NHL Draft by the Colorado Avalanche.
"We are happy to add Shamil to the RoughRider family," said RoughRiders Head Coach and Team President Mark Carlson. "He adds talent and experience to our group. We look forward to working with Shamil as we begin the 2019-2020 season."
The RoughRiders open the 2019-2020 regular season on Friday, October 4th and Saturday, October 5th when the take on the USA Hockey National Development Program U-17 team. Both games begin at 7:05 pm.
