July 16, 2021 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release
PITTSBURGH - For the third time this season, Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC will face Loudoun United FC in an Atlantic Division battle.
This time, however, the Hounds will get to play host, as the teams meet at 7 p.m. Saturday at Highmark Stadium after playing the first two matches in Virginia. The game will be televised on 22 The Point and streamed via ESPN+.
Loudoun (2-9-0) got the better of the Hounds (6-4-3) for the first time in three years of matchups in the last meeting on June 30. Louis Pérez scored his first professional goal for the Hounds, but it wasn't enough, as goals by Ted Ku-DiPietro and Jovanny Bolívar gave Loudoun the 2-1 win after six consecutive losses to the Hounds.
The Hounds did take a 3-2 win in the first meeting with Loudoun on June 2, and the loss in the most recent match is the Hounds' only loss in the past seven matches, a stretch in which the team has gone 4-1-2.
With 10 days since their previous matchup, the Hounds will come in rested, though they are somewhat shorthanded with four players - Jordan Dover (lower body), Josh Gatt (knee), Jelani Peters (international duty) and Mekeil Williams (international duty) - all ruled out. With three of the missing players being defenders, there is a better-than-fair chance Tom Judge, the 36th pick in this year's MLS SuperDraft who joined the team last week on loan from Nashville SC, will have his name on the team sheet.
Loudoun, meanwhile, played at home on Sunday, when they fell 4-1 to Miami FC. That game was closer than the final score indicated, as Loudoun missed a first-half penalty that would have tied the game, and the score remained 1-0 until the 70th minute.
Also on Saturday is the second home match for the Hounds' USL Academy League side, who will host the academy team from USL League Two club Kings Hammer FC. That match is at 2 p.m., and admission is free, but fans will have to leave the stadium after the academy match and reenter with a ticket for the pro game.
