Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release
PITTSBURGH - Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (0-0-1) welcomes new-look Penn FC (0-1-0) to Highmark Stadium this Saturday, March 31 for the club's home opener and first leg of the Keystone Derby Cup, presented by K&L Gates and the Pennsylvania Lottery.
Both kicking off the 2018 campaign on the road last weekend, the Hounds scrapped their way to a nil-nil draw against Nashville, while Penn FC was dealt a loss at the hands of the Charleston Battery. These two teams have already met once this year in exhibition play, with the Hounds winning a 3-2 preseason result on March 10.
Saturday is sure to provide plenty of fireworks with the Hounds defending the Keystone Derby title for the second time in the cup's three years of existence. Last year's round of play proved to be exceptionally dominant for the Hounds, as they did not once yield a goal in three meetings and head into this weekend's match with a three-match shutout streak over Penn FC - the longest active streak against any opponent in the USL.
On the individual side, Kevin Kerr will be one of several players to watch for the Black and Gold. The Scottish midfielder donned the captain's armband last week and has six goals against Penn FC dating back to 2015.
Rivalry aside, home openers for the Hounds have been considerably eventful in years past with the club scoring three or more goals in three of its past four home openers.
Off the pitch, fans in attendance will receive a free schedule magnet, courtesy of Amcom Office Systems. The Hounds will also be offering their season-long $1 beer special from gates open at 5:30 p.m. to kickoff at 7 p.m.
Tickets to the match are still available and can be purchased by visiting Riverhounds.com. For those unable to make it to Highmark Stadium, catch all of Saturday's action live locally on Pittsburgh's CW or follow along live with USL Match Center and on Twitter at @RiverhoundsSC.
