The Charlottetown Islanders kick off a critical three-game weekend tonight in Bathurst when they take on the Acadie-Bathurst Titan at the KC Irving Regional Centre.
The Islanders (17-26-4-1) couldn't pick up any points in another key matchup this past Sunday, suffering a 4-1 defeat to the Cape Breton Eagles. Jakob Robillard kept his team in the fight throughout the game, but the Eagles pulled ahead by two with under seven minutes remaining in the game before Eagles forward Ivan Ivan potted an empty netter in the final seconds of the game.
Despite the loss, the Islanders have had better luck as of late than the Titan (15-26-5-3). Bathurst have lost nine straight games, with their last victory coming against the Islanders at home on January 14th. The Titan return home from a Quebec road trip that ended with a 2-1 shootout defeat to the Drummondville Voltgeurs.
