BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Playing five straight and six of its next seven on the road, the Bloomington PrairieThunder hockey team can make major strides in its quest for a berth in the post-season International Hockey League playoffs.

The PrairieThunder, which has won 11 of its last 17 games to improve its overall record to 23-25-1-3, sits in fifth place in the standings with 50 points. Bloomington trails Fort Wayne, which has 62 points, by a dozen markers for the final playoff berth with 24 games remaining.

Flint serves as the first opposition on the upcoming road trip, which begins Thursday with a 6 p.m. contest at Perani Arena. The Generals have a 16-33-2-4 record (38 points).

The PrairieThunder has a 6-4-0-1 record against Flint, including a 1-2-0-1 record at Perani Arena. Bloomington has lost three straight, including in a shootout, in Flint.

The Generals have lost nine of their last 10 games. PrairieThunder games can be heard on WTRX (93.7 FM) with Greg Halbleib handling the play-by-play.

After the game in Flint, the PrairieThunder makes the short trip to Port Huron for contests on Friday and Saturday, beginning at 6:05 p.m at McMorran Center. The games will mark the midway point in a six-game series with the IceHawks.

Port Huron captured two of the first three games last week, but the PrairieThunder did manage to snap a two-year, 13-game losing streak to the IceHawks with a 2-1 overtime victory on Saturday at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

The PrairieThuner will be looking to snap a seven-game losing streak in Port Huron. The IceHawks, who are tied for the league lead with Muskegon with 68 points, have a 15-9-2-0 record at home.

Bloomington has ripped off a13-6-1-3 record since the beginning of the New Year.
